More than a place to drop files
Many file hosts give you a link and forget about you. The upload.am cabinet is a proper workspace: everything you upload stays in your account, in your own folder structure, until you remove it or its retention period ends. You can come back next week, find the file, preview it, rename it, move it, and share it again with different settings.
It runs entirely in the browser. There is nothing to install and nothing to sync, so it works the same on a work laptop, a borrowed computer or a phone. The interface is translated into twelve languages.
It is also free to start: every account includes 25 GB of storage and 5 GB per file. Paid plans raise those limits and extend how long files are kept; they do not unlock the cabinet itself.
What you can do in the cabinet
Folders and search
Create folders, move files between them, rename anything, filter by type and search by name. Select many files and act on them at once with bulk actions.
Preview in the browser
Open images, video, audio, PDF, text and common office documents without downloading them. Office files are converted to PDF on our own servers, so your documents are not sent to a third-party viewer.
File versions
Upload a file with the same name into the same folder and the old copy becomes a version. Restore it, or download it without replacing the current file.
Trash and restore
Deleted files go to the trash first. Restore them if you made a mistake, or delete them for good when you are sure.
Share links with controls
Share one file, several files or a whole folder. Set a password, a download limit and an expiry, and see how often the link was opened.
Activity feed
See what was uploaded, downloaded and received. Useful when several people share an account’s links.
Get files into the cabinet in four ways
- Drag and drop files from your computer. Large files are uploaded in parts, so a dropped connection resumes instead of starting over.
- Paste a link with remote upload from a URL and let our servers fetch the file for you.
- Receive files from other people through your personal Upload Inbox — you accept or decline each file.
- Use the Windows app or the Android app to back up folders, photos and documents straight into the same account.
Photos and videos get special treatment. Open the Photos & Video section for a gallery with thumbnails, filters and a built-in viewer — see photo and video hosting.
Keep control of who sees what
Every link you create is listed in one place. You can see its status, how many times it was opened and downloaded, and you can change its password, extend it or revoke it. Revoking a link never deletes your file.
You can add your own logo, brand name and colour to the download page, so a file you send looks like it comes from you. With two-factor authentication you can protect the account itself. API keys let you automate uploads using the same protocol as the website.
For groups, the Team plan adds a shared storage pool, roles, folder-level permissions and a company inbox. Clients never take up a seat.
How long are files kept?
Retention depends on the plan. On the Free plan a file is kept for 30 days from the last download, so files that people keep using stay available. Paid plans keep files longer, and the Keep and Lifetime options exist specifically for people who want files to stay put. You can compare all options on the pricing page.
Whatever your plan, nothing disappears without a trace: the cabinet shows how long each file remains and the trash gives you a safety net for accidental deletes.

Frequently asked questions
Is the online file manager free?
Yes. Every account includes the web cabinet with 25 GB of storage and a 5 GB limit per file. Paid plans increase storage, file size and retention.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The cabinet runs in your browser on desktop and mobile. Optional apps for Windows and Android use the same account.
Can I preview files without downloading them?
Yes. Images, video, audio, PDF, text and common Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents open in the browser.
Can I get back a file I deleted?
Yes. Deleted files go to the trash first and can be restored from there. You can also restore previous versions of a file.
Is this the same as a cloud sync drive?
Not exactly. The cabinet is a file hosting workspace focused on uploading, keeping and sharing files with strong link controls. The Windows and Android apps add backup and sync on top of the same account.
Can several people use the same storage?
Yes, on a Team plan, which provides a shared pool with roles and folder permissions. Personal accounts are for one person.
What languages does the cabinet support?
English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Arabic, Vietnamese, Persian, Indonesian, Filipino and Hindi.
