One link instead of a pile of links
Sending several files the usual way is clumsy. You paste a link for each file, the recipient opens each one separately, and one of them inevitably gets lost in the thread. If you change your mind about the password or the deadline, you have to fix every link one by one.
A group link solves this by turning the set into a single object. The recipient opens one page, sees every file with its name and size, and downloads files individually or together. You share one address, protect one address, and revoke one address.
It is ideal for the kinds of jobs where files naturally belong together: a photo set, a project folder, a pitch deck with its attachments, a batch of invoices, an album, a set of drawings.
Two ways to share many files
A group link at upload time
Drop several files onto the upload box and switch on “One link for all these files”. As soon as the upload completes you receive a single link. This works without an account.
A share link from your cabinet
Select files in your online file manager, choose Share link, and decide the lifetime, the download limit and the password. You can add more files to the same link later.
A folder link
Share a whole folder with one link that stays current as you add files. Good for ongoing projects where the recipient should always see the latest set.
A link by email
Send the group link straight from the result screen to one address. The recipient gets a message with the link and does not need an account.
What the recipient sees
The group page lists all files with names and sizes. The recipient can download a single file, or select several and download them as one ZIP archive when the total size fits within the archive limit. If the selection is too big for a ZIP, the page says so clearly and offers to download the files one by one — nothing fails silently.
Files that can be previewed — images, video, PDF and text — can be opened right in the browser before downloading, which is useful for choosing the right file from a large set. See photo and video hosting for how galleries and the built-in player work.
There are no third-party ads on the page. The recipient sees your files and your message, and on paid plans the download starts immediately. On the Free plan, a short 10-second wait precedes the download, with unlimited speed afterwards.
One set of rules for every file
The real benefit of a group link is that the rules apply to the package as a whole. You choose them once:
- A password protects every file in the set with a single secret.
- A lifetime closes the whole page on a single deadline.
- A download limit keeps the number of downloads under control.
- A message for the recipient explains what the files are, so the email you send can be one line long.
- Analytics in the cabinet show how often the link was opened and how often it was downloaded, and by which country.
Tips for sending many files
- Give the files clear names before you upload. The recipient sees exactly what you see.
- For very large sets, keep an eye on the maximum file size for your plan. The Free plan allows 5 GB per file and 25 GB of total storage; larger plans raise both.
- If the files come from another website, use remote upload from a URL to bring them into your account without downloading them to your computer first.
- If you want people to send many files to you, use an Upload Inbox or a Drop Room instead — the same idea in the opposite direction.
